Two Circuits on One Tower Structure

The double circuit angle steel tower is designed to carry two transmission circuits on the same tower body. Its design requires coordinated planning of conductor arrangement, crossarm length, insulation positions, and the combined effects of wind and ice loads.

The tower can be configured for tangent, tension, angle, terminal, or crossing positions. The line angle may be designed from 0 to 90 degrees. The applicable voltage level and structural arrangement are determined according to the transmission corridor, local line conditions, and project specifications.

For overseas projects, the tower can be designed according to the local voltage level. The final supply scope is confirmed in line with the company's manufacturing capability for transmission towers of 500kV and below and the qualification requirements of the project.

Circuit Layout and Span Requirements

 

 

Common nominal heights include 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, and 36 meters. Unequal-leg structures can be used for mountainous terrain or different foundation elevations.

Total height, base width, and crossarm length are determined according to the two-circuit arrangement, conductor safety distance, line span, and foundation position. Typical horizontal spans are 250–500 meters, while typical vertical spans are 300–600 meters.

The tower can be matched with LGJ-185, 240, 300, 400, and 500 conductors. GJ steel strand or OPGW optical ground wire may be used for the ground wire system. Because a double circuit angle steel tower contains more conductor attachment points and component types, buyers should provide the tower function, circuit arrangement, conductor specification, ground wire specification, and tower schedule before production.

 

Materials, Processing, and Site Assembly

 

 

Main steel options include Q235B, Q355B, and Q345B. Q420B may be selected for heavy-load designs. Materials required by the project country can also be used after technical confirmation.

The factory completes angle steel cutting, laser drilling, or punching. Components are connected with grade 6.8 or grade 8.8 high-strength bolts. Site installation is generally completed by bolting rather than welding.

The tower is fully hot-dip galvanized, with a regular zinc coating thickness of at least 85 μm. Additional corrosion protection can be specified for coastal, high-wind, or salt-spray environments. Design conditions may also include basic wind speeds of 23.5 m/s, 27 m/s, or 31 m/s, ice thicknesses of 5–50 mm, and seismic conditions of 6–8 degrees.

  • Double-circuit projects often include many tower positions, component numbers, and packing groups. The company's technical, material, production, and quality teams coordinate tower schedules, component identification, and delivery batches throughout the order.

 

  • The factory has a monthly overall production capacity of 2,500 tons and an annual power tower production capacity of 20,000 tons. Delivery time is evaluated before the contract is signed according to order quantity and current factory capacity. Repeat orders can normally use previously confirmed drawings and production data to support faster scheduling.
  • The minimum order quantity is 1 ton. Different tower types or models may be combined in one purchase order. EXW and FOB terms are preferred, and USD settlement is supported. Export packaging is reinforced to reduce the risk of mixed bundles and missing components during transport.
